We are able to inform people that Uruguay signed an agreement with Nordic Investment Bank. Mercedes
Coordinator Against Pulp Mills and Forest Monocultures rejected the agreement signed in Helsinki, Finland, between the executive branch of Uruguay and the Nordic Investment Bank.
This agreement provides economic privileges Nordic Investment Bank of the importance of which we highlight below:
It exempts from taxes, fees and charges all types, interest and other charges that make loans to firms which are installed in Uruguay and the countries in this bank.
This exemption is a privilege over workers, traders and producers of Uruguay to pay all taxes.
2) Companies to be installed in Uruguay and belonging to any of the member countries of the bank will benefit from the best conditions with other companies in Uruguay.
This agreement extends the privileges set forth, among other things, the agreement with Finland, companies in these countries, without signing new contracts.
The agreement also granted legal privileges to the Nordic Investment Bank as follows:
bank representatives will have immunity from all judicial and administrative proceedings for acts done in connection with this bank.
